This is the 4th year that I have used Ufile. I have a complicated tax return to file with a variety of investments, that would include, US, limited partnerships, dividends, capital gains, forware and back losses, rif payments, etc.
I have found the program to be adequate for these tasks. The main problem is that the help index is very poorly written and this means that it is sometimes very difficult sometimes to locate where one should enter your information. Often, information has to be entered under an unrelated heading.
Technical support exists and has been helpful, but tends to be rigid with formal answers, without a direct response to your issue. For instance, I asked where does one enter the amount that you have paid in quarterly payments, but their response was that they wanted to take over control of my computer to solve the problem. I found the solution by trial and error under ‘refund’ , I think it was. Several issues like that, that were costly in time.
I looked at Turbotax and found the sales literature so vague and manipulative that I did not pursue trying it as an alternative.
Although, the Ufile software is adequate and fairly good, the poor instructions for using it have made me interested in finding a better program. I used to use ‘Taxwiz’ which was so easy to use, but it disappeared.
