Avidemux

Avidemux is a free open source video editing software program developed by Mean, released under the GNU General Public License (GPL). The program is designed for simple cutting, filtering and encoding tasks on AVI, DVD compatible MPEG files, MP4 and ASF. It provides basic video editing features.

Kdenlive

Kdenlive is a free and open-source video editor for GNU/Linux and FreeBSD. The developer considers that Kdenlive should be used by video amateurs as well as advanced users from basic video editing to semi-professional work. It offers a complete solution from capturing, editing to publishing videos. The program allows you to capture video from any source including DV, HDV or AVCHD camera.

Cinelerra

Cinelerra is a free video editing software for Linux system. It is developed by Heroine Virtual and released under the GNU General Public License. The program is designed to help user in doing three things: capturing, compositing, and editing audio and video. There are some key features which you can found in Cinelerra such as support for very high-fidelity audio and video, it processes audio using 64 bits of precision, and can work in both RGBA and YUVA color spaces, using floating-point and 16-bit integer representations, respectively.

LiVES

LiVES is a simple video editing program which is formerly Linux video editing system, but now it supports more other operating systems. LiVES is a free software licensed under the GNU GPL. It mixes realtime video performance and non-linear editing in one professional application which is used by both professional VJ’s and video editors. It allows user to apply many effects including random/targeted zooming, panning of video, color cycling and colorization/color filtering; compositing of frames is possible such as frame-in-frame, fade in, fade out and transparency.

Kino

Kino is a free video editor program for Linux operating system. It is a non-linear DV editor released under GNU General Public License. It allows user to capture video to disk in Raw DV and AVI format, in both type-1 DV and type-2 DV; loading multiple video clips, cut and paste portions of video / audio, and save it to an edit decision list. Kino can export the composite movie in various file formats including DV over IEEE 1394, Raw DV, DV AVI, still frames, WAV, MP3, Ogg Vorbis, MPEG-1, MPEG-2, and MPEG-4.

PiTiVi

PiTiVi is an open source video editor for Linux system, written in Python and based on GStreamer and GTK+. PiTiVi is licensed under the Lesser General Public License. It is free to download and use. PiTiVi is written in Python for the high-level logic and user interfaces. This enables fast development time, as well as easy extension of any PiTiVi component through native python plugins.

OpenShot Video Editor

OpenShot Video Editor is a non-linear video editor for Linux, built with Python, GTK, and the MLT Framework. It is a free and open-source software program which you can download and use for free of charge. You can also redistribute it and/or modify it under the terms of the GNU General Public License. The developer goal is to create an easy-to-use, powerful, non-linear video editor, with a focus on three things: User Interface, Work flow and Stability.

ZS4 Video Editor

ZS4 Video Editor is a free video editing application developed by t@b. The program is advanced video editing and compositing software with a large number of built-in video effects. There are various features you can found in the program such as unlimited number of video and audio effects for every track, cropping, zooming, panning, volume, rotation, opacity, key-color and manipulate the flow of time, forward, backward, speed up and slow down smoothly.
