		<description>GIMP is the only high-powered image editor that I use. I mostly can&#039;t comment on how GIMP compares to Photoshop feature-wise or usability-wise, because I&#039;ve never really had a chance to use current editions of Photoshop. The reason why not connects to the one undeniable advantage that GIMP does have: it is free and open-source, while Photoshop (like all of the Adobe CS applications) is prohibitively expensive.

Beyond that, I can attest that I have not had difficulty learning to use GIMP. Also, I often visit sites that have cool Photoshop tutorials, and I have yet to find one that I couldn&#039;t follow step by step and replicate using GIMP. Custom Photoshop brushes work in GIMP, too.

No knock on Photoshop if you can afford it. For me, it&#039;s GIMP FTW!</description>
