DietPower Review

DietPower is one popular diet software program on the weight loss market today. DietPower is a product of DietPower, Inc. It provides solutions for user to reach weight-loss or weight-gain goals with tools such as: exercise log, food log, recipe box, body log, nutrient history, diet history, exercise dictionary, food dictionary and much more.

DietPower is available for Windows 2000, ME, XP, Vista and Windows 7. DietPower will run on a Mac equipped with Windows XP or PC-emulator software such as Virtual PC.) Trial version is available to download from this diet software website. User can try the software for 15 days.

DietPower Highlight Features:

  • Multi-user Support – Up to four different people in a household can use DietPower concurrently. Each user has their own profile to trace their own weight history.
  • Travel Bag Feature – This is a utility that lets user make a backup of their records that they can carry back and forth between computers, or just keep in case the files on their hard drive are destroyed or corrupted.
  • Exercise Log – This is where user records their activity. Every time they engage in physical activity, it means they burn off calories.
  • Food Log – This is where user records all their meals, so DietPower can analyze their nutrients, recommend foods, and adjust their calorie budget to keep them tracking toward their weight-loss or weight-gain goal. It also brings them daily health news.
  • Body Log – The first time user logs on each day, DietPower asks them to record their weight. The program uses this information to plot the graphs in user’s Body History and figure their calorie budget for the day.
  • Calendar – This is where user can keep a diary, correct their past food, exercise, or weight logs, and plan meals.
  • Nutrient History – This helps user balance their diet by showing how much of each nutrient they have consumed and which foods contributed to it.
  • Diet History – It is a table that chronicles user’s daily weight, calorie intake, and metabolic rate. (Metabolic Rate means the rate at which our body burns calories. The faster our metabolism, the more we must eat to maintain our weight.)
  • WaterMinder - This tool helps user to remember about water intake because most people don’t drink enough water — especially when they’re dieting.
  • Exercise Dictionary – Lets user look up, edit, or add entries to DietPower’s physical activity database, so they will be available for recording in their Exercise Log. It has a list of nearly 1000 physical activities, each with a calorie burn rate attached.
  • Food Dictionary – Lets user look up, edit, or add entries to DietPower’s food database, so they will be available for recording in your Food Log. It has a list of 11,000 foods and beverages, each with a nutrient profile attached.
  • Recipe Box – Lets user combine foods into recipes and put the recipes into the Food Dictionary for logging.
  • Goal Setter – Lets user set their weight goals and get a calorie budget for achieving them. For example, if user weighs 140 today and wants to reach 129 by July 15, how many calories per day should they eat? With the Goal Setter, they can get answers to questions like this in seconds. They will also learn whether their goals are realistic.
  • Personal Daily Allowances – These are the standards against which DietPower charts user’s Nutrient History. Normally, these are the same as the official Recommended Dietary Allowances, but the PDA Editor lets user change them to whatever their doctor recommends.
  • Personal Information Form – Lets user set up their records and their nutrient allowances when they enroll. Later, they can revise the information to reflect their change.
  • and few more options like: Setting Option, Online Help, Forum, and Health Shop.

One User Review to This Software

I’ve used DietPower since 1997, when it first came out. I’ve also tried literally dozens of other diet programs. None even comes close to DietPower for speed, accuracy, and intelligence. Their claim that they are the only program on the market that can guarantee reaching a goal weight (because they base your calorie budget on your metabolic rate) is not an exaggeration — I haven’t found another program that does this, in more than a decade of searching. I also haven’t found one that offers a one-year money-back guarantee. Or 9 a.m. to midnight phone support. DietPower is awesome.
